You start the hike at the information board on the car park at the entrance to Rettenbach (coming from the main road). From here you walk a little further through the village in the direction of Ruderszell along the state road. At Ruderzell you turn right and through the forest you soon reach the Tannerl chapel. From there you continue towards the reservoir and then back to Rettenbach.
