The start of this challenging alpine hike is at the parking lot at the Padinger Alm. Alternatively, there is another parking lot about 500 m from the starting point. The first 5 km are almost constantly uphill until you finally reach the Reichenhaller Haus just below the summit of the Hochstaufen. This is literally clinging to the rock of the Hohenstaufen. From here, a truly breathtaking Alpine panorama opens up and the 30 guests who can spend the night here can expect a magnificent sunrise and sunset, weather permitting. The hut is open in summer. The way back is via the Goldtropfsteig trail.
