Demanding hike in the Chiemgau Alps
A beautiful but strenuous hike. It leads over the Steinernen Jäger to the Hohenstaufen, where the Reichenhaller or Staufenhaus literally clings to the rocks of the Hochstaufen. Up to 30 guests can stay up there and (weather permitting) watch a sensational sunset and sunrise. The ascent is strenuous - and the innkeeper does it several times a week, carrying his backpack filled with provisions... There is no road or cable car to the Staufenhaus.
