This route follows Stage 1 of the SalzAlpenSteig, opening the long-distance trail with a point-to-point hike from Prien am Chiemsee to Grassau. From the moorlands near Lake Chiemsee, it passes through protected woodland, open farmland, and the Bernauer Achen corridor before reaching the Chiemgau foothills, giving this first stage a noticeably gentler character than many of the route’s later mountain sections. This is the southern section of the Athental bike path. The varied route leads away from busy roads, without major climbs through the valley of the Tyrolean Ache. Numerous nature reserves are on the way, as well as refreshments for the physical well-being.

Charming bike tour around the NSG Kendelmühlfilzen, Bavaria. The circular tour leads around the Filzen area through Bernau, Marquartstein, Grassau and Rottau. The tour begins overseas and leads to Rottau. From there you go to the Steinlingalm directly under the Kampenwand. After a short break, past the small chapel, around the Kampenwand, towards the Piesenhausener Hochalm. !!Danger!! In this section, the bike has to be carried most of the time (approx. 1.5 hours) and you have to overcome a few meters of altitude on gravel and washed-out paths. So nothing for beginners, only something for experienced mountain bikers.
