Best trails in Seiland National Park
Seiland is an island of striking contrasts, featuring steep mountain slopes that drop into the sea, serene birch forests, and vibrant flower meadows. Home to the northernmost glaciers in Europe, Seiland is also rich in a unique cultural landscape characterized by rocky outcrops. Despite its rugged wilderness appearance, the area has been inhabited since the Stone Age, and in summer, it serves as a pasture for reindeer.
The national park encompasses over half of the island but lacks shelters, huts, or well-marked trails. This makes the terrain pretty tough, so if you want to explore, it's a good idea to have some hiking experience and plan ahead.

Trail reviews for Seiland National Park
We started the hike from Seiland Explore, where there was a free toilet and a small free parking lot. The terrain was mostly easy to hike, except for a few river crossing, where you had to find the proper stones to jump on. The path is a bit steep at the end down to the lake, but still not hard. Now always clear which is the path. The views were magnifient and diverse all the way in the October snow: lakes, plants, snowcapped mountains, and even a wow moment from the top of the path (which is not the very end). It took exactly 3 hours for us out & back including photo breaks and meditating on how to do the river crossing.
