The path begins at Plunkett Road which is unsealed. The route then heads south before turning on to Sapper Road which takes you to Avon River.
The inclines are very steep and the trail along the river is not signposted.

Starting at Bald Head Hill, the path heads down an unnamed track towards the railway tracks near Avon River. The trail is not always clearly marked and can be difficult to navigate.
