This is a reasonably Long walk that is well marked and easy to follow with raised boardwalks making up the most of the track in the lower sections before taking you up to open vistas including a incredible view of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel.

An out and back trail in the Hartz Mountains National Park in southern Tasmania. Nestled beneath the dolerite spine called The Devils Backbone, the trail follows the Hartz Peak Trail to the destination - Lake Esperance.
Lake Esperance was formed as ice and snow built up on the leeward side of the mountains. It is one of the more accessible glacial lakes in Hartz Mountains National Park. There are picnic facilities at the shore of the lake.

The path starts at the trailhead to Hart's peak. There are a few tricky parts that are overgrown but in general, it is not too tough. This is a great short walk out to the beautiful Arve Falls that also offers views of the valley. Although this walk is short it gives you a great look at the sub-alpine vegetation of the area with wonderful silver banksias, and the quintessential twisted and spectacular Tasmanian snow gum.

This is a beautiful trail in Hartz Mountains National Park with beautiful scenery, views, flora and wildlife.
The route mostly follows the popular Hartz Peak track up to the summit but then turns off on the way back and passes Emily Tarn and Arthurs Tarn on the very rough Old Hartz Track, which can be difficult to navigate.
