Family Islands National Park is located off the coast of Far North Queensland. As the name suggests, it encompasses a group of continental islands covered in lush rainforests and woodlands that were discovered by Captain Cook. It is also surrounded by coral reefs, tidal flats and why sand beaches, which explains why the park is part of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. It is thus a great place to hike, spend some time on the beach, swim and snorkel.

Starting at Dunk Island Campground this route follows the beach along Brammo Bay. Heading up the ridge it climbs towards the Mount Kootaloo Lookout.
Heading South East it follows the ridge line down towards Coconut Beach which makes a great spot to rest and a dip after trekking through the forest.
Following Pallon Beach beside the runway you head back to the campground.

This is an enjoyable trail through the Family Islands National Park in Far North Queensland, located not too far south from Innisfail. This route is located on the tiny Dunk Island, which can be accessed by plane or by ferry from Wongaling Beach on the mainland.
The trail itself is very well shaded once you get off the beach and features a beautiful view at the end.

From the campground and dock traverse Dunk Island Beach, through forest along the Muggy Muggy Beach track until you arrive at the pristine sandy beach on Dunk Island/Coonanglebah. Enjoy a picnic, a swim or a snorkel before heading out on a longer trek on the island.
The resort is closed due to cyclone damage sustained in 2019 so you may find the trails slightly overgrown on the island.
