Starting off along the Fan Palm Loop, the track ventures through a native fan palm forest. Informative signs along the walk describe how rainforest plants are adapted to survive in this low light, seasonally-flooded area. Much evidence of cyclone damage can be seen along the track.
The Children's Walk is short and easy and includes a bit of a game for children where they follow 'cassowary footprints' to find a 'nest'.
