Popular hike in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria. The starting point is the car park in Lambach at the fairytale and ghost castle. From there, walk past the fairytale and ghost castle on the right along a tarmac path to the cast-iron Madonna (you will pass several stops on the Holzweg, a nature trail). When you reach the statue of the Virgin Mary, turn right and follow the signs for La3. Next to the telephone line supported by wooden poles, the stony hiking trail runs steadily uphill until you meet hiking trail La1 at a crossroads. Both hiking trails now run together for a while, past the Teufelstritt (rock with chiselled signs) to a wood storage area. The La3 markings lead to the right towards Osserwiese. There you have a panoramic view of the Bavarian Forest mountains - from the Kleiner Osser over the eight thousand metre peaks from the Großer Arber to the Eck, Riedlstein and Kaitersberg to the Hohenbogen. At the end of the Osserwiese meadow, you can choose the narrow, uphill path over the Kleiner Osser or the shorter and easier path past the Künische Kapelle chapel, where the two paths meet again. The Große Osser is in sight at the signpost tree with the signposts. Past the hut of the Lam mountain rescue organisation, the ascent begins over the rocky summit ridge to the Großer Osser (1293m). After a refreshment stop at the Osserschutzhaus, you return to Lambach along the same route. Highlights of the hike: - Lambach fairytale and ghost castle - nature trail - Views over the Bavarian Forest mountains - Summit of the Großer Osser
