Little Arbersee adventure trail (Lo03)

Popular circular hike in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria. You should allow around 5 hours for the "Kleiner Arbersee" adventure trail. The starting point for the hiking trail marked Lo3 is the tourist information centre in Lohberg. A footpath leads downhill over the so-called "Bogenfelder" to Zackermühle and then uphill again towards Schneiderberg. If you keep an eye on the markings, you will easily find the river hiking trail to the Sollerbach waterfalls and later to the picturesque Kleiner Arbersee lake. Once you arrive at the lake, the Seehäusl invites you to take a short break and enjoy the marvellous view over the lake. The mountain lake with its floating islands is a unique natural phenomenon. The relic from the Ice Age near Lohberg is one of three Ice Age lakes in the Bavarian Forest. As it was dammed up in the 19th century to float timber, the bog felts have detached themselves from the shore and float on the water as "floating islands". The circular walk around the lake is highly recommended. An information board indicates the former location of the glassworks. After the Kleiner Arbersee, there is a short, easy ascent to the Sonnenfels (refreshment stop). If you keep an eye on the Lo3 markings, you will reach Brennes after a short time and then follow the path downhill to the Ebensäge wasteland. The rest of the route leads nature lovers to Sommerau and back to Lohberg. Refreshment stops: Seehäusl at the Kl. Arbersee, Berghaus Sonnenfels, Lohberg.
