Between Two Rivers from the Elbe to the Polenz valley

For more information: https://nationalpark-saechsische-schweiz.de/warnungen/eilmeldung-waldsperrung Varied circular hiking trail in the Saxon Switzerland National Park, Saxony This circular route, rich in natural and cultural-historical attractions, leads from Rathen through the heart of the Saxon Switzerland National Park. It goes through picturesque river valleys, past the wild rock formations of the Lusatian Thrust. The hike can be easily reached by bus and train and can be started at the Oberathen train station. Since the route continues on the other side of the Elbe, the ferry must be used for the crossing (note prices and times). Of course, the route can alternatively be started on the other bank. From there it is a good bit uphill through the beautiful Amselgrund, past the idyllic Amselsee and via the node path to the impressive Hockstein viewpoint. From there it goes through the beautiful Polenztal to the Carolastein, which can be climbed optionally. Return to the starting point via the Heidestein and the Gamrig disc.
