Popular and promising circular hike in Saxon Switzerland near Königstein, Saxony.
This beautiful circular hike starts at the parking lot of the "Gasthaus zum Pfaffenstein" and leads along the Pfaffensteinweg (painter's path) first to the Quirl - with its numerous caves. The best-known cave is probably the "thief's cellar" on the north-east side of Quirl. The "Diebeskeller" is a two-story layer joint cave with a length of 28 meters, 8 meters wide and up to 4 meters high. According to the stories, the stone table was placed in the middle of the cave for a meal during the hunt for Augustus II (1755). Then it goes over the gorge path to the Pfaffenstein. In addition to the fantastic view, the mountain restaurant and the lookout tower, there is still a lot to discover on the Pfaffenstein plateau: caves and old ruins as well as the "Barbarine", a bizarre rock needle.
The so-called "comfortable path" with its magnificent views of Königstein Fortress takes you back to the starting point of the tour.
