Far away from the often overcrowded main attractions of Saxon Switzerland (e.g. Bastei with Bastei Bridge), hikers can experience the unique rock formations and caves of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in a more relaxed way. One of the highlights is the "Pfaffenstein" nature reseve, which is well know for the "Barbarine" rock needle (more than 40 m high) and its protected flora and fauna. Of course, it can also get a little crowded here on weekends and nice weather days.
