Gorisch - Hunskirchen am Papststein - Kleinhennerstdorfer Stein

This hike leads over three striking table mountains in Saxon Switzerland and offers a mixture of alpine ascents, wide plateaus and mysterious caves. It starts at the Bad Schandau ferry. The trail first leads up to the rugged plateau of Gohrisch (440 m). A particular highlight is the descent through the Falkenschlucht gorge, an extremely narrow crevice that is negotiated via iron ladders and steep steps. The route then leads across the road to the Papststein (451 m). Here, the Hunskirchen tower up as rugged climbing rocks right next to the hiking trail. After descending from the Papststein, the route continues to the Kleinhennersdorfer Stein. On its flanks are the impressive Lichterhöhle and Hampelhöhle caves, which were given their present size by historical sandstone quarrying. Grey wagtails can often be seen in the shady rocky areas, while the high plateaus are ideal hunting grounds for kestrels. As the tour involves steep ladders, narrow crevices and many steps, sturdy footwear, surefootedness and a head for heights are required.
