The hike starts in Darlingerode near a car park and the Darlingerode Sandtalhalle bus stop. There is also the option of taking the train to Darlingerode train station or starting the hike from Wernigerode-Hasserode train station. It goes through the Sandtal, to the Renne cliffs and to the Leistenklippe. You can take a break at the HohneHof nature adventure center. The stream "Braunes Wasser" then leads back to the village of Wernigerode and a final section through the forest back to the starting point. On the way there are numerous stamping points of the Harzer Walking Pin: Oberförster-Koch-Monument (HWN 025), Mönchsbuche (HWN 026), Gasthaus Steinerne Renne (HWN 028), Leistenklippe (HWN 015), Hohnehof (HWN 174), Ottofelsen (HWN 027) , Thumkuhlental water art (HWN 085), Himmelpforte monastery (special stamp)
