The loop begins in Schönau and leads past the Königsweiher pond into the forest. It goes up and down along forest paths to Blumenstein Castle and a short, steep section further on to Opferschale. After great views, the next descent to Wasigenstein Castle awaits. This is the ruin of a medieval rock castle. It owes its name to the rock on which it stands, the Wasigenstein, a double castle consisting of the castles Groß-Wasigenstein and Klein-Wasigenstein. On the way to the starting point, you pass the Bruderfelsen and Pfaffenfelsen rocks, making the route a varied experience.
