Saar-Hunsrück-Steig Stage 24: Oppenhausen - Boppard

This route follows stage 24 of the certified Saar-Hunsrück-Steig premium trail, connecting Oppenhausen with Boppard on a scenic and diverse section. The first part of this 19 km (12-mile) hike runs parallel to the Hasenkammer premium loop, showcasing rural countryside and orchard meadows around Herschwiesen. After long descents and ascents through the forested Brodenbach Valley, the path leads across a plateau toward Udenhausen, crosses the A 61 highway, and ascends the Horstkopf hill for wide vistas of the Eifel and Hunsrück. Continuing through varied woodlands toward the Rhine Valley, the trail runs parallel to the Mittelrhein-Klettersteig premium loop. Two restaurants directly along the path offer magnificent views of the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley and the large Rhine Loop. The final panoramic descent into the destination town of Boppard can optionally be completed via a chairlift ride. Excellent refreshments and accommodations are available in wide variety within Boppard; wild camping is prohibited.
