Permanente CTF RSC Kettwig-Essen: Kettwiger Wald und Wasser

Kettwiger forest and water CTF-Permanente. For all those who want to collect 2 points for the BDR annual ranking regardless of the weekend CTF and RTF events or who simply want to drive a nice round through the green close to the city, the RSC Essen-Kettwig has been offering a permanent one since 2020. The 45 km long route starts at the “Haus Ripshorst” information center in Oberhausen-Borbeck. The information center of the Regionalverband Ruhr (RVR) offers interested visitors a lot of interesting information about the "green Ruhr area". The route runs almost exclusively on car-free forest, forest and cycle paths in the area of the cities of Bottrop, Dinslaken and Oberhausen. The route highlights the contrasts in the landscape between the formerly industrial zone on the Rhine-Herne Canal and the forest and water areas in the Kirchheller Heide. Interesting and worth seeing places as well as buildings such as the "Neue Mitte Oberhausen" - better known as "CentrO" - the Heidesee or the work of art "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" - a swinging high-voltage pylon - are approached. There are opportunities to stop along the way. The route is suitable for year-round use with cross, gravel, mountain and trekking bikes. The route is not suitable for racing bikes due to the rough terrain. The route profile is mostly flat and only has an altitude difference of around 350 meters. The route does not involve any particular technical difficulties. Particularly when it is wet, careful driving is recommended on the numerous wooden bridges.
