Hermannsweg Stage 8: Detmold - Horn-Bad Meinberg

This route is stage 8 of the Hermannsweg, a long-distance trail through the Teutoburger Wald. This specific segment begins at the Hermannsdenkmal near Detmold and travels southeast to the Lippischer Velmerstot, ending in Leopoldstal. The path descends from the Grotenburg to the Adlerwarte and the legendary Externsteine, vertical sandstone formations that hikers can climb for panoramic views. Moving into the Eggegebirge, the trail follows the romantic Silberbachtal valley before a final steep ascent to the rugged summit of the Lippischer Velmerstot. This peak marks the official end of the ridge walk. Overnight stays are found in hotels in Horn-Bad Meinberg or Leopoldstal; wild camping is strictly prohibited.
