Die Schlössertour (Route 12)

Route 12: Castle Tour Requirements: for practiced, asphalted and paved bike and hiking trails. Landscape: Rhine, lakes, forest, ferries, nature reserve. Specialty: "Keer Tröch" ferry - Travel times: Palm Sunday to the end of September: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10 am-7pm; October: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Ferry "Räässer Pöntje" - Travel times: Palm Sunday to the end of October: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10 am-7pm Start / finish: Tourist Information Xanten At the tourist information office, walk straight ahead towards the sea tower. Turn left over Westwall / Südwall to the intersection Südwall / Orkstraße. Turn right and immediately left again and cycle to the pedestrian traffic light on the federal road B57 / Varusring. You cross the B57 and turn right at the roundabout until you reach the Alten Rheinweg. There it goes right to Gelderner Strasse. Here you turn left and drive to the Rhine ferry. You cross the Rhine with the “Keer Tröch” ferry (attention: limited travel times). On the other side of the Rhine, after approx. 150m, turn right towards Wesel (Marwick). You follow the Deichweg to Bislicher Straße. There you turn right and after approx. 400 m left again into the street Auf dem Mars. We continue through the forest on the Am Homberg road to the intersection. You take the Rosenallee on the left. At the end of the street, cross Mühlenfeldstrasse and immediately turn right. After approx. 700 m the route turns left into the street Am Jäger. Follow this road to the B8 federal road. There it goes to the right and at the intersection again to the left into the street Bislicher Wald. Drive on this street for approx. 3 km to the intersection of Diersfordter Straße / Westfeldweg. Now cycle to the left and after approx. 200 m to the right into the street Mühlenrott. Follow this to Diersfordter Straße, where you turn left. Drive along this street to the Markstraße intersection. There it goes to the right over the Brüner Straße towards the intersection B473. Cross this and follow the Brüner Straße over the motorway bridge to the Gasthaus zum Hasen-Hein (approx. 2.8 km). There you turn left and drive on the “Telgerhuck” street to Van-De-Wall-Straße. Now it goes left and after about 1 km left again towards Ringenberg. You cycle past Schloss Ringenberg on the main road to the intersection with the B473. Cross this and continue on Weststraße / Mehrhooger Straße (L602) / Bahnhofstraße to Mehrhoog. Then take Rheinstrasse / Heresbachstrasse in the direction of Mehr. In Mehr, opposite the sports field, turn right onto the planet path towards Rees. In Rees you cross the Rhine with the ferry Räässer Pöntje. On the other bank of the Rhine, it goes back via Obermörmter, Vynen, past the Xanten North and South Seas, via Wardt and Lüttingen. You can reach the tourist information in town via Rheinstrasse, Nordwall and Klever Strasse.
