Den Rhein entlang nach Grieth

Route 11: Along the Rhine to Grieth Length: approx. 51 km Requirements: family-friendly, paved and paved bike and hiking trails. Landscape: Rhine, lakes, villages, ferries Start / finish: Tourist Information Xanten At the tourist information office, turn right through the Mitteltor onto Klever Straße and continue to in front of the Klever Tor. Now drive right over the north wall and at the end of the street left to the roundabout and straight ahead over Wardter Straße to the port of Xanten. In front of the harbor it goes on the left bank of the South Pacific towards Wardt. You cross the bascule bridge and drive to the Xanten North Sea. There it goes on on the right bank to the Rheindamm. Follow this for a while to Obermörmter, where you leave the Rheindamm via Hohen Weg. On the right it goes over the Papenweg to the church in Obermörmter. In front of the church, turn right again onto Husenweg (Rheindamm). There it goes left for a while to the street Reeser Schanz. There you turn left and drive to the crossing Reeser Schanz / Rheinstraße. There it goes right on the Rheinstrasse. Follow this for about 2 km, drive under the bridge and then right over the Görtze Woy in the direction of Rheindamm. The path takes you over the Rheindamm to behind Haus Hönnepel (Griether Straße), where you turn right over Griether Straße to the roundabout and then right again towards Grieth. Before Grieth, turn right into the street Schuldamm and immediately right again into the Schifferdamm. In front of the Zum Deichgräf restaurant, turn right downhill and immediately left again under the underpass to Griether Markt. At the market, turn right into Legestrasse and continue on Kirchhofstrasse to Rheinuferstrasse. There it goes left in the direction of Wissel. You drive through Wissel and after about 1.5 km turn left into the street Zum Wisseler See. Follow this for about 1.5 km and then turn right into a forest path. At the end of the path you cross a small bridge and cycle to Gerd-Jansen-Platz in Kalkar. There it goes left and immediately right again into Kesselstrasse. At the end of Kesselstrasse you will reach the market. Now turn left and drive past the town hall towards Kalkarer Mühle. At the mill, cross a small bridge and turn right along the stream to Oyweg. There the path turns left and you follow the Oyweg to Appeldorn. There you cross Reeser Straße and follow Via Romana and the NiederrheinRoute via Marienbaum, Haus Balken, Düsterfeld, Mörmter Monastery to Xanten. The way to the tourist information is signposted in the village.
