This route is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the Ruhr area. It begins at Lake Kemnader and leads to the beginning of the Erzbahntrasse at the Bochum Centennial Hall. The Essen-Wanner route then branches off in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf. The Ruhr is crossed in Essen-Steele and always goes along the water to the Hattingen Ruhr Bridge. But be careful: This section is not passable even with slight flooding. In Hattingen, the trail changes the Ruhr side and returns to the tour's starting point at the Kemnade reservoir.
