Family-friendly walk at Teufelsberg, Berlin.
This beautiful walk leads around the Teufelsberg and to the Drachenberg in Berlin's Grunewald.
The starting point is at the Grunewald car park and follows the stairs up to the Teufelsberg, the kite run-out area in Berlin. Sometimes even paragliders can be seen there. From there there is a great view over Berlin and the Grunewald.
It continues to the climbing rock of the DAV, then to a great downhill route for mountain bikes or cross country fullys.
Then a real historically exciting highlight awaits - the NSA listening station Berlin Teufelsberg. A use as a leisure area was planned, but was initially thwarted because the US Army used the mountain for a radio station. The initially mobile installation for monitoring the airspace - especially the three flight corridors between Berlin and Germany - was soon expanded. For this purpose, a radome was built, which also took over surveillance tasks far into the Warsaw Pact area. After German reunification, the plant was dismantled.
