#3 - Teufelsberg Loop
GrunewaldLength: 1.8 mi • Est. 55 m
This is a sightseeing and adventure tour. First, the route goes up the stairs to the Teufelsberg, the Drachenauslaufgebiet area of Berlin. Sometimes you can see paragliders there. From there you also have a great view over Berlin and the Grunewald. Continue to the DAV climbing rock, then to a great downhill track for mountain bikes or Cross Country Fullys. After that comes a real highlight - the NSA listening station of Berlin Teufelsberg. It was planned as a recreational area, but was thwarted for the time being, since the US Army used the mountain for a radio system. The initial mobile installation for monitoring the airspace - especially the three flight corridors between Berlin and the FRG - was soon expanded. After German reunification, the plant was dismantled. The attempt to convert this area into condominiums has dissolved.
