From the hiking car park on the Loisach, the route starts on a gravel path north of the river in a westerly direction. The actual ascent begins at the Ochsenhütte, initially with a moderate incline. Depending on the season, there may be leftover snow on the route. Arriving at the top of the Stepbergalm, it is a good idea to take an extended lunch break here. The subsequent descent offers many opportunities to enjoy the great views over to the Zugspitze to the fullest.
