Höllentor - Osterfelderkopf Via Ferrata

Challenging loop in the Wetterstein Mountains, Bavaria, Germany This route leads into the rough area near the Zugspitze. A beautiful path along the Höllenklamm with spectacular views of waterfalls and pools. Only experienced hikers with a good level of fitness, surefootedness and appropriate equipment should hike here! The roar of the water can always be heard in the background, which has been shaping the landscape and gorge for thousands of years, and the iron bridge above offers impressive valley and all-round views. It is a circular route of superlatives! Continue to the Höllentalangerhütte - Zugspitze and the Höllentalferner can be seen from here on a clear day. On the way, the view of the Alpspitze often accompanies you. There are some stairs in the way to make progress a little easier. The last meters of altitude run through rather barren rock before you reach the Gate of Hell. Wide paths lead to the Osterfelderkopf and soon the view from the AlpspiX viewing platform can be enjoyed - it is possible to take the cable car from the valley here, so it can get crowded. Narrow stairs lead down towards the Kreuzeck cable car station. Just before the station, the Jägersteig turns left and leads over very steep paths through dense forest down to Hammersbach. From here, the path now follows the road, past the free hikers' car park back to Obergrainau.
