Mit dem Rad zwei Nationalparkzentren entdecken

After visiting the Hans-Eisenmann-Haus in the Lusen National Park Center in Neuschönau, you will be well informed about the history of the National Park and its special features. Now the cycle tour starts at parking lot 2 near the pedestrian bridge of the treetop path in the direction of Altschönau and Spiegelau. The cycle path initially runs parallel to the national park base road and winds its way downhill for approx. 2.5 km and then with moderate inclines and almost flat passages towards Spiegelau. Shortly before Spiegelau, the route crosses the national park base road and reaches the village through the forest play area. Cross the railroad line, turn right onto Schwarzachstraße and soon leave it again to the left to follow a forest road in the National Park forest to Klingenbrunn-Bahnhof (approx. 5 km), which first climbs for approx. 3 km and then descends towards the village. Soon after the small village of Klingenbrunn-Bahnhof and the hamlet of Linden, the route leaves the national park and the cycle path leads through the estates of the long-established glassmaking family of the Barons of Poschinger. The path leads uphill for approx. 2.5 km until shortly before the former glassworks site of Altposchingerhütte with a forester's lodge. Afterwards, the trail leads gently downhill towards Frauenau. The forest becomes thinner and the path is lined with gnarled old trees through which you can see the glassmaking village. The route leaves Frauenau on the left and soon reaches Oberfrauenau, another former glassworks site with an inn and manor house. The route continues uphill for a further 2 km to the top of the Frauenau drinking water dam, which is crossed in a northerly direction. Buchenau is reached without much effort via an avenue that leads to Buchenau Castle. After crossing the village, the route follows the asphalt road towards Jungmaierhütte. Shortly before Spiegelhütte, it turns right and after crossing the small village, the trail leads back into national park territory. In Scheuereck, you have the opportunity to observe red deer in the national park's deer enclosure. The route then takes a leisurely and steady descent via the small villages of Kreuzstraßl and Schleicher to Ludwigsthal. Here you follow the national park cycle path parallel to the railroad line until you turn sharp right a good 500 m after the railroad stop and cover the last few meters to the Haus zur Wildnis on the forest path, which is no longer marked as a national park cycle path. The Haus zur Wildnis, with its impressive architecture, offers permanent and temporary exhibitions on the national park, a 3D cinema experience, a children's discovery room and coffee, cake, drinks and delicious food in the restaurant. After your visit, take the same route back down to the Ludwigsthal train station.
