Maximiliansweg Stage 8: Tegelberghaus - Linderhof

This route follows stage 8 of the Maximiliansweg, a long-distance trail through Germany and Austria, beginning at the Tegelberghaus and ending at Schloss Linderhof. The path crosses the ridge of the Tegelberg past the Branderschrofen summit before descending the zigzagging Ahornreitweg trail into a forested valley. It passes the Bockstallsee lake and climbs across the flowery meadows of the Bäckenalm, then winds down through the Sägertal into the Ammertal to reach the royal Linderhof Palace. Overnight stays are accommodated at the Tegelberghaus at the start or in hotels near Linderhof; wild camping is strictly prohibited in the Ammergebirge Nature Reserve. Hikers must pack a reliable water filter to treat surface water from natural springs and mountain streams.
