Maximiliansweg Stage 10: Hörnlehütte - Eschenlohe

This route follows stage 10 of the Maximiliansweg, a long-distance trail through Germany and Austria, beginning at the Hörnlehütte and ending in Eschenlohe. The path begins with an easy walk along the Hörnle ridge, providing views of the Murnauer Moos bog and the Garmisch mountains. It climbs past the Hörnlealm to the Hintere Hörnle peak, showcasing the Ammergauer Alps and the Zugspitze massif, before winding down past erosion cliffs to Grafenaschau and crossing the valley to Eschenlohe. Overnight stays are accommodated at the Hörnlehütte at the start or in local guesthouses and hotels in Eschenlohe; wild camping is strictly prohibited along this section. Hikers must pack a reliable water filter to treat surface water from natural mountain streams between towns. Advanced reservations are highly recommended for the mountain lodge.
