Point to point
Shortened version of the Immenstadt mountain marathon. The goal here is the middle station of the Mittagbergbahn. The route leads from Immenstadt (valley station Mittag-Bahn) over the ridge path of the Nagelfluhkette to the Hochgrat and back to the middle station of the railway. Theoretically, six peaks are climbed. However, the route does not go directly over them all (Stuiben is left on the left). The peaks are: Stuiben (1,749m), Sederer (1,737m), Buralkopf (1,772m), Gündelskopf (1,748m), Rindalphorn (1,822m) and Hochgrat (1,832m).
Individual sections have an average gradient of up to 25.5% (ascent of the Rindalphorn). A trained runner needs around 5 hours for the route. If you don't like walking downhill, you should plan half an hour more. It is advisable to save the GPS track as the route is not always signposted.
The route is beautifully scenic. Measured against this, it is the most beautiful mountain marathon in Germany, even one of the most beautiful in the German-speaking area. The turning point is at the Hochgratbahn mountain station (destination of the Hochgrat mountain run). Despite the double route, the run is unreservedly recommended. In contrast to the usual mountain marathons, the incline begins immediately after the start, which makes the run consistently demanding. In addition, you run in wild nature, mostly on small trails. There is no snow or scree. The run is more demanding than a normal mountain marathon. This is not only due to the incline, but also to the nature of the paths. The ridge is consistently shaped by roots, stones and stairs. You always need your hands to climb. Surefootedness is essential.
