This hike in the Allgäu Alps starts at the Mittag mountain station. It is possible to either hike here or take the Mittagbahn cable car from Immenstadt im Allgäu for a fee (see tips). The Mittagbahn starts very close to Immenstadt railway station, so it is also easy to get here by public transport.
The ascent to Steineberg is a little steeper (and downhill again on the way back), but apart from that the hike leads along a ridge with few significant differences in altitude.
The last part of the hike is optional and can be climbed.
There is a restaurant with a playground on the Mittagberg.
