Hausberg -Zugspitze Mountain Station

This stunning trail is located in the Schachen and Reintal Nature Reserve and starts at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen parking lot, right next to a train station. It winds through breathtaking natural scenery and ends at the Zugspitze (2,962 m). From the starting point, the trail climbs steadily all the way to the Zugspitze. The route follows the Hoher Weg trail past the Kochelberg-Alm and the Partnachalm. The Partnach River runs parallel to the trail, following the route all the way to the Reintalangerhütte. Just before reaching the hut, the Partnach Waterfall offers a scenic stop. The ascent gradually becomes steeper and more challenging until the 2,962-meter-high Zugspitze is reached. This route is the easiest but longest one to the Zugspitze. Apart from the final ascent to the summit, the trail presents hardly any technical difficulties. Via the Knorrhütte, the trail—often secured with wire ropes at critical points—leads to the summit plateau. From there, a short climb takes you to the spectacular summit cross. However, the route should not be underestimated, as it passes through very remote terrain. The hike can be undertaken snow-free and safely from June to September.
