Boll - Beginnings of the Wutach Gorge

This fascinating hike leads into the "Grand Canyon of the Black Forest" and opens up one of the most geologically exciting sections of the Wutach Gorge. The trail starts in the Bonndorf district of Boll and leads down into the canyon-like valley floor. The route runs along an adventurous mixture of narrow, partly exposed rock paths, wooden footbridges, and natural forest trails. A central highlight is the natural phenomenon of the Wutach seepage, where the river almost completely disappears into the rugged limestone on dry days, as well as the passage along the steep shell limestone walls. Due to the sometimes slippery paths and narrow passages, the route requires sure-footedness and sturdy footwear.
