Haßlach Gorge from Kappeln Shooting Range

This wild and romantic route leads through the deep gorge of the Haßlach in the southern Black Forest, not far from Freiburg im Breisgau. The trail starts at the Brände barbecue hut and opens up the sheltered valley of the Haßlach, following a varied mix of narrow, near-natural forest paths, mossy climbs and paved forest trails. A central highlight is the direct contact with the stream, which gurgles over small cascades and boulders and provides a pleasantly cool microclimate, especially in summer. The route requires good surefootedness and sturdy footwear due to the sometimes rooty and slippery paths in wet conditions.
