Himmelreich -Frauensteigfelsen

This athletic and scenic mountain hike leads from the foothills of the Zarten Basin up into the steep Black Forest slopes above the Höllental valley. The trail connects the village of Himmelreich with the prominent viewpoint at Frauensteigfelsen, following a diverse mixture of broad forestry roads, narrow root-covered mountain paths, and steep switchbacks. A central highlight is the spectacular view from the rock down into the Höllental and across to the opposite peaks of the Southern Black Forest, as well as the passage through dense, moss-covered protected forests. Due to the steady and sometimes vigorous ascent, the route requires good basic fitness and surefootedness on the natural trails.
