Description

With its wooded slopes, lakes and peat bogs, the great ridge forms the Hautes-Vosges, from where the Alsatian, Lorraine and Franche-Comté valleys depart. The Plateau des mille étangs, located in Franche-Comté, is the second great natural resource. Its natural and cultural heritages, its mythical blue line and the landscapes it offers to discover, its hiking trails, the excellence of its products and know-how allow each side to offer a different facet of the Vosges mountains. . In this highly populated and visited mid-mountain area, it is around mountain agriculture and its short circuits, the development of the wood sector but also eco-tourism that the Park directs its main actions of development.

Beautiful hike in Les Vosges with great variation of terrain. It is strenuous at times with plenty of relaxing hiking in the middle. The first half is a quiet, single-track road with very little traffic. The second half is more travelled and includes a rest stop at the top of Hohneck Mountain, with a small cafe at the top. From the Gaschney parking to the lake is a slow descent through the forest (BLUE RECTANGLE); a good warmup. After the lake, the route begins to wind upwards (STILL BLUE RECTANGLE), with a combination of switchbacks and flat breaks. The varied terrain includes hiking across a rocky face (could be dangerous when wet), and some very narrow paths up and around the ridge, which includes steel footholds and handholds.Very fun, and beautiful hiking through the forest on a sunny day. A small clearing at a minipeak will allow you to view parts of the path you have taken, before another short climb up to l'Auberge. The trail becomes larger and more travelled. One last climb awaits (SENTIER DE NEVES), up the side of a treeless hill before a smooth up and down hike along the ridge, where views of the lake and valley below await. After traveling up and down for a while, you will reach a steep incline on route to the rest stop on Hohneck Summit. Take a break if you please before heading down the other side. At this point, you could go up and down the Petit Hohneck or take the route around the side (RED TRIANGLE), through the forest with some shade and beautiful flora. You will find yourself back at the parking soon enough!Show more

This hike starts from Lac Longemer and will take you to the pond of Lispach. You will have spectacular views on the way back. Take the opportunity to visit the old copper mine in front of the pond and its magnificent bog. On the way back, you will pass a cave. It is a great walk to do with your dog, but be careful of the lookout which is very steep.Show more

This trail, which crosses the Voges region in France, surrounds a magnificent lake and climbs to the top of a surrounding mountain. The way to go is not for the shy, but the view is extraordinary. The path, passing through pine, birch and spruce forests, is easily navigable. A waterfall welcomes you halfway.Show more
