Situated on the banks of the Breeriver, Bontebok National Park was originally created to preserve the rare Bontebok, an unusually marked antelope. The park offers walking trails, river access, swimming, fishing, mountain biking, picnicking, and camping. Visitors can also drive through the park for wildlife viewing. Like other South African parks, bird watchers enjoy the plentiful populations of various birds here.
Pets are not allowed in the park.

Sheltered by the Langeberg Mountains and bordered to the south by the Breede River, the Bontebok National Park provides a refuge for not only bontebok, but also for other species such as the Cape mountain zebra, red hartebeest and grey rhebok. Abundant bird life includes the secretary bird, fish eagle and francolin. Bird watching is excellent near the camping and picnic sites.

Bontebok National Park is on the banks of the Breede River, just 5km from Swellendam. The Acasia, Aloe and Bushbuch Trails start at the same spot and follow routes along the Breede River. There are parking and a tap at the start to fill up your water bottles. Picnic, braai and ablution facilities are available and can be used by day visitors.
