Brandeburg
#1 of 11 nature parks

The Barnim Nature Park covers around 750 square kilometers and is the only large protected area shared by Brandenburg and Berlin. Extensive forests, numerous lakes, moors and almost untouched river valleys characterize its varied landscape. The heraldic animal of the nature park, the fire-bellied toad, lives in the Ackersöllen - small circular bodies of water. Historic field and brick buildings, waterways and the remains of Slavic and German castles bear witness to the region's history.
