The Barnim Nature Park is around 750 square kilometers and is the only large protected area shared by Brandenburg and Berlin. Extensive forests, numerous lakes, moors and almost untouched river valleys shape its varied landscape. The heraldic animal of the nature park, the fire-bellied toad, lives in the Ackersöllen - small round waters. Historic field and brick buildings, waterways and remains of Slavic and German castles bear witness to the history of the region. The Barnim Panorama visitor information center is located in Wandlitz, where you can find out more about nature conservation and agriculture. Opening times are daily, except Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (admission one hour before closing).Show more

The Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park has existed since 1998 and is located in the southeast of Berlin. The heart of the 594 km² park are the Dahme-Heideseen, also known as Dahmeland. The nature park comprises 25 nature reserves and 30 fauna-flora-habitat areas and is inhabited by a large number of protected animal species - such as several breeding pairs of eagles.
