Mornington Peninsula National Park is located on the coast of Greater Melbourne, in Victoria on Bunurong land. Its landscape consists of beautiful ocean beaches and cliffs covered with dense, sand dunes and tidal rock pools that are home to happy colonies of kangaroos. It is also a favorite with surfers. But if you prefer staying dry, you will enjoy one of the panoramic trails. One of the most popular routes is the Coast Walk, a two-day 30-kilometer hike along the cliffs and beaches. But there are also a range of short to medium-length walks in the area.

Started off at the London Bridge lookout at ended at St Paul’s beach. This was my first beach hike and I’ve got to say it’s been one of my favourite short hikes of all time. I’ll be back again to explore the mornington peninsula & seaport area more as there’s so many beautiful trails & spots to do!

Beautiful, undulating walk through the Mornington Peninsula NP and then along the coast past Cape Schanck lighthouse. Spectacular views.

This is a fantastic trail along the truly wonderful Mornington Peninsula coast near Cape Schanck. The dune trails are very sheltered and consist of lengthy sections of beautiful tea tree tunnel, as well as more open areas. There are several built lookout platforms along the way to allow enjoyment of the view. The highlight of the walk, for me, was the beach walking. The rock formations are sharp and well-defined, with layered sedimentary rock tilted at a rakish angle that makes the rocks themselves look like waves. I took some fantastic photographs in the middle of the day, and plan to return some time at either dawn or dusk when the light would set these beauties aflame. I'm not sure what the tide was doing when I passed along the beach but it appeared that at high tide this walk might be tricky, so perhaps check your tide tables to avoid high tide.
