This is a beautiful hike through the Douglas-Aspley National Park on the east coast of Tasmania. The trail follows Apsley Gorge which the Apsley River has carved out.
When dry/low water, you can follow the riverbed back to the start for an adventurous circuit with lots of rock hopping. It is not recommended to attempt following the river (where there is no trail) when the water is even at mid-levels. This is an extremely challenging trail through the Douglas-Aspley National Park. This route requires either two cars or some one to pick you up at the end. This trail can be terribly overgrown and difficult to follow at times due to lack of maintenance.
Breaking this route up in to 2 days would be ideal to help with the time constraints of the difficulty. Downloading the map for offline use is essential as reception can be non existent at times.
