Best hard trails in Witten

Idyllic circular hiking tour in Witten, North Rhine-Westphalia. Starting at the Haus Witten bus stop, you walk straight through the beautiful city park before entering the natural Hohenstein forest and the beech wood. On the way back, the route scores points with the game reserve including a petting zoo (admission is free) and the Hammerteich. Leisurely bike tour near Witten Not the most demanding route, but partly on the beautiful "Rheinischer Esel" route. On the long loop we went into a wooded area where there were wagons and other interesting things from the mining industry. It's worth stopping now and again to enjoy the view.

A very nice tour with many climbs and descents, great forest passages and wonderful views. Most of the route follows the SGV's cave path X4 (very well marked in both directions). It is possible to break off the tour at kilometer 12 and take bus 593 to Wetter (runs every hour). Accessible by bus and train. There are places to stop for refreshments, but only towards the end of the hike.
