Best moderate trails in Kreuzau

This hike is located north of the Eifel National Park. It begins in Oberbaumach. It leads through several nature conservation areas such as the Oberbaumach reservoir, the Buntsandstein and the Rur Valley. The route runs mostly through forested areas with a view of the aforementioned bodies of water and crosses the Rur several times.

This hike runs on the most beautiful section of the Buntsandstein route from Obermaubach to Abenden. You'll also follow the trail mark of the Buntsandsteinroute. In Obermaubach you'll climb up to the Buntsandstein "Eugenienstein", go through the "Hindenburg Gate" and reach the top of Nideggen. On the final section you'll pass the "Effels Rocks" - a paradise for climbers. Then, you'll go downhill to Abenden. The return journey is then the "Rurtalbahn" to Obermaubach.
