• Danger posed by deadwood in the lower part of the mountain trail: There is an increased risk of falling trees in the lower part of the mountain trail due to standing deadwood. We recommend taking the Erlsgrund and Winterbergstraße routes instead. Areas with a lot of standing deadwood should be avoided, especially in windy, rainy or snowy conditions. Further information and a marked diversion route can be found at: https://nationalpark-saechsische-schweiz.de/warnungen/bergsteig Panoramic route through Saxon Switzerland from Schmilka, Saxony. This circular route leads from the Schmilka ferry stop through the unique and popular Saxon Switzerland National Park. The route first follows the Elbleitenweg to the popular Schrammsteinen including a view of the Schrammstein. From there it continues picturesquely on the ridge path. Here the Breite-Kluft view and the Carolafelsen await. From there the path leads over the Reitsteig to the Großer Winterberg and the Kipphorn viewpoint. A number of wooden steps are waiting to be climbed on the Reitsteig. With a bit of luck you can see birds of prey such as peregrine falcons and kites. From there it's the shortest but steepest descent on the mountain trail back to Schmilka. Highlights: - Scratch stones - Fun climbs - Carola Rock - Breite-Kluft Aussicht - Großer Winterberg - Kipphorn view
