Tall and mighty, full of destiny! - The Watzmann is even sung about. This route to the famous Watzmannhaus starts at the Hammerstiel car park, which is subject to a charge. The tour is a challenging hike and is a wonderful introduction to mountain tours. Ambitious hikers can complete the route in one day. Alternatively, you can stay overnight at the Watzmannhaus if you book in advance. From the car park, the route initially follows a wide forest road through sparse woodland on a moderate ascent to the Stubenalm. Here the ascent from the Hammerstiel joins up with the ascent from the Wimbachbrücke bridge. The ascent continues on a wide path, past the Lahneralm to the Mitterkaseralm, which is open and much frequented. Here you can linger for a while until the last steep third leads over the Falzalm to the Watzmannhaus. The paths become much narrower and turn into a mountain path. Numerous hairpin bends lead to the Falzalm and grassy slopes and a rocky step finally lead to the destination. Sure-footedness and sturdy footwear are recommended and a certain basic level of stamina is required!
