The entire route is a challenging mountain hike through high alpine terrain which is best suited as a trekking route for two to three day stages. This requires surefootedness, a head for heights and a certain level of fitness. Overnight accommodation is available in the seasonally managed Wimbachgrieshütte (three-day variation) and in the seasonally managed Ingolstädter-Haus. The trail first leads there after a decent ascent from the Wimbachbrüke through a varied landscape past the Wimbach castle. From the Wimbachgrieshütte, a steep ascent to the summit of the Hundstodgatterl awaits and runs along the plateau to the Inglostädter Haus. From there, after a descent, there is one last steep ascent to the Seehorn. The descent leads past the Seehornsee, the Weißbachalm and the Waldmühlsäge to the famous Klausbach suspension bridges. From there, the trail leads along wide hiking paths to Hintersee.
