Adventurous, multi-faceted hiking trail in the Berchtesgaden National Park, Bavaria.
Starting at the Hammerstiel car park (subject to a charge) near the Wimbachbrücke bridge, you set off on a gravel path in the direction of the Stubenalm. The Watzmannhaus can already be seen from here. On the way up, the trail leads past the Mitterkaseralm and the Falzalm, where you can stop for refreshments. Once you reach the summit of the Watzmann, the sensational view over the Berchtesgaden Alps rewards you for the challenging climb. An overnight stay in the Watzmannhaus is possible, but must be booked in advance (check opening times and season). Return the same way.
