Popular circular hiking trail in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Bavaria.
On cobbler's pony through the Kötztinger meadows. Passing below the imposing fortified church, you leave the town to the west along the course of the Weißer Regen (refreshment stop: Hex'nheis'l). Past the mill wheel of the river nature trail and romantic river meanders as well as across extensive meadows by the Herrenweiher pond, the trail first leads to a large field cross. From there, it follows a meadow path and along a weir to the former ironworks site of Sperlhammer. There is an impressive manor house there. After approx. 1 km on agricultural paths and through meadows, you reach the nearby village of Beckendorf (refreshments: Café-Restaurant Kauer; Zur Ziegelhütte) with its beautiful village green and village chapel. From there, the path leads along the pavement back to the town centre.
