Running course of the Osterfeld mountain run. 11.9 km and 1297 metres in altitude with an average gradient of 10.9%. The start is in Garmisch (Alpspitzbahn valley station at 765m). The finish is the Osterfelder-Kopf (mountain station at 2,022m). The route is mostly easy to run, with a few smaller trails and a short cross-country section up the ski piste (steepest point with an incline of almost 45°). A trained runner can complete the course in approx. 01:25. The top runners need 01:07. The upper part of the course is very spectacular with the marvellous landscape of the Wetterstein mountains. The run is considered one of the most challenging and beautiful mountain runs in Germany. The route leads from the Alpspitzbahn car park to the Aulealm (0.75km, 790m), then via Tonihütte (4.1km, 1,110m), Tröglhütte (6.74km, 1.430m), Kreuzalm (7.78km, 1,581m), Kreuzeck (8.2km, 1,634m), Hochalm (9.5km, 1,708m), Bergwachthütte (10.05km, 1,816m) to the mountain station (finish, 11.92km, 2,022m). The Osterfeld mountain run is organised by the organisers of the Eibsee cross-country race.
